BRIEF HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY

FOUNDER:

Jesus Christ. Founded around the year 30-33 A.D. in Judea region of Palestine (now Israel).

SCRIPTURE:

The Bible originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament).

GOD:

The One God is Triune (one God in three persons, not three gods): Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Often the title God indicates the first person, God the Father. God is a spiritual being without a physical body. It is personal and is involved with humanity. He created the universe out of nothing. It is eternal, never changes. It is holy, loving and perfect.

JESUS:

Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity. He has always existed as God the Son and was not created. It is fully God and fully man (two United Natures and not amalgamated). As the second person of the Trinity, it is equal to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. To become human, it was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is the only way to go to the Father, salvation and eternal life. He died on the cross, according to the plan of God, as a Full Sacrifice and atoned for our sins. He rose from the dead three days after his death, physically immortal. During the next 40 days it was seen by more than 500 eyewitnesses. His wounds were touched and he ate before the disciples. Physically ascended to heaven. Jesus will return again visibly and physically at the end of time to establish the Kingdom of God and judge the world.

HOLY SPIRIT:

The Holy Spirit is God, the third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is a person, not a force or energy field. He console, rebukes, convicts, guides, teaches and sorrow. He is not the Father or the Son, Jesus Christ.

SALVATION:

Salvation is obtained by the grace of God and not by obras.A Salvation is received by faith. Just believe in your heart that Jesus died for our sins and physically rose from the dead. We will then have assured forgiveness and resurrection of our body. This is the Loving Plan of God to forgive sinners.

DEATH:

After death, all people expect the Last Judgment. The people saved and lost will rise. The saved will live with Jesus in heaven. Lost, however, suffer the torment (hell), eternal separation from God. The bodily resurrection of Jesus assures believers that they will also have immortal bodies.

OTHER FEATURES:

The worship group, usually practiced in churches. There is no secret ceremonies. Baptism and the Lord's Supper (communion). volunteer missionary work. Help those in need: the poor, widows, orphans and the oppressed. Christians believe that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah promised to Israel in the Old Testament. Jesus said that his followers would be known for brotherly love.

FUNDADOR:

DEUS:

O Deus Único é Trino (Um Deus em três Pessoas, não três deuses): Pai, Filho e Espírito Santo. Freqüentemente o título Deus indica a primeira pessoa, Deus Pai. Deus é um Ser Espiritual sem corpo físico. Ele é pessoal e está envolvido com a humanidade. Criou o universo do nada. É eterno, nunca muda. É santo, amoroso e perfeito.

JESUS:

Jesus é Deus, a segunda pessoa da Trindade. Ele sempre existiu como Deus Filho e não foi criado. É plenamente Deus e plenamente Homem (duas Naturezas Unidas e não Amalgamadas). Como segunda pessoa da Trindade, é igual a Deus Pai e Deus Espírito Santo. Para se tornar humano, foi gerado pelo Espírito Santo e nasceu da virgem Maria. Jesus é o Único caminho para ir ao Pai, a Salvação e a Vida eterna. Ele morreu numa cruz, de acordo com o plano de Deus, como um Sacrifício Completo e expiou os nossos pecados. Ressuscitou dentre os mortos três dias após sua morte, fisicamente imortal. Durante os 40 dias seguintes foi visto por mais de 500 testemunhas oculares. Suas feridas foram tocadas e ele comeu diante dos discípulos. Ascendeu fisicamente aos céus. Jesus regressará outra vez, visivelmente e fisicamente, no fim dos tempos para estabelecer o Reino de Deus e julgar o mundo.

ESPÍRITO SANTO:

O Espírito Santo é Deus, a terceira Pessoa da Trindade. O Espírito Santo é uma pessoa, não uma força ou um campo de energia. Ele consola, repreende, convence, guia, ensina e se entristece. Ele não é o Pai, nem o Filho, Jesus Cristo.

SALVAÇÃO:

A Salvação é obtida pela Graça de Deus e não pelas obras.A Salvação é recebida pela Fé. Basta crer no coração que Jesus morreu por nossos pecados e ressuscitou fisicamente, dentre os mortos. Teremos, então, assegurados o perdão e a ressurreição do nosso corpo. Este é o Plano Amoroso de Deus para perdoar os pecadores.

MORTE:

Depois da morte, todas as pessoas esperam o Juízo Final. As pessoas salvas e as perdidas ressuscitarão. Os salvos viverão com Jesus nos céus. Os perdidos, porém, sofrerão o tormento (inferno), a separação eterna de Deus. A ressurreição corporal de Jesus garante aos crentes que eles também terão corpos imortais.

OUTRAS CARACTERÍSTICAS:

A adoração em grupo, usualmente praticada nas igrejas. Não há cerimônias secretas. O batismo e a Ceia do Senhor (comunhão). Trabalho missionário voluntário. Ajuda aos necessitados: pobres, viúvas, órfãos e oprimidos. Os cristãos crêem que Jesus é o Messias Judeu prometido a Israel no Antigo Testamento. Jesus disse que os seus seguidores seriam conhecidos pelo amor fraternal.
